The first date
How to Impress on Your First Date
You never get a second chance to make a first impression, and with Cupid’s aim never one to be thoroughly relied upon, it is up to you to ensure that the stars sparkle, the birds sing in romantic unison and your date isn’t left checking their wristwatch at every possible opportunity. A Romeo and Juliet like level of adoration may not be a heart-thumping guarantee, but that doesn’t mean we can’t help prepare you for your big day.
Avoid Clichés – Candle lit dinners, endless empty compliments, romantic movies and lengthy beachside walks may all seem like the ideal setting to the first step into an amorous union. But, do they really provide the perfect environment in which to allow your unique personality to shine? First dates should supply a window into the excitement and joy you can offer your partner, so never be afraid to think outside the box to ensure that your name is the first on your lover’s lips.
Listen – This overstated and obvious piece of advice may seem like a first-date cliché in itself, but nothing will guide the connection you build with another person like listening to what comes out of their mouth. Better yet, should you baulk at every little utterance, you can at least make moves to end the date before it gravitates into one of the worst nights of your life.
Be Prepared – Okay, so you aren’t sitting an exam, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t prepare yourself for what could be one of the most significant days of your life. Arriving in a hygienic and neatly presented manner may not win the race, but it certainly puts you in pole position to impress and stands you in good stead to end the night with your first memorable kiss.
Never be afraid to plan a few topics of conversation. Hopefully, these topics will never come up, as you will be too busy gripped in scintillating debate with your new crush, but you can certainly be assured of avoiding any uncomfortable moments of silence with some well prepared conversational crutches.
I can’t promise you will be swept off your feet with these few handy tips, but they will certainly open the gates for the chance of that dream first date. Good Luck!
